The Valley Clock Shop is a family owned and operated business that started with John "Jack" Healy Maides. John, who passed on February 19th, 2014, had worked on clocks for over 45 years. He was taught by Aldo, a German horologist with 60 plus years’ experience in clock repairs. The shop has been at its current location for over 20 years however has been in El Cajon for over 40 years at various locations with the same phone number.

John's son, Kirk, who now owns and runs the shop started working in the clock shop with his dad as a child. Loving the family business Kirk decided to go to clock school in Pennsylvania. He has completed courses at the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc. Kirk is a trained horologist, horology is the scientific study of time.
